Science Experiment #2

Question: What will happen if we make a wick out of paper towels and put it in one jar of water and one empty jar?
Prediction:  The paper towel will go yucky.
What actually happened?  We tipped a little bit of green dye into a full jar of water on the left.  We then placed one end of the wick into the green water and put the other  into the dry jar on the right.  To our amazment the water traveled up the wick and emptied out into the other jar.  It stopped when the water was half and half.  We learnt that this is called "capillary action".  It's when the water moves through the particles in the paper towels.  We all wondered why the water came out blue on the other side so we are going to try this with other colours to see if it changes them or if they stay the same.
